ART TOWARDS LIBERATION!
Art & culture are weapons in the struggle for a liberated Palestine. This spring, we call on all visual artists, cultural workers, painters, illustrators, and designers to contribute work that commemorates and contributes to the Palestinian struggle for liberation. This work will be exhibited at the historic People’s Conference for Palestine from May 24-26, 2024 in Detroit, MI, and then tour the country as an exhibition that commemorates the conference and displays art in solidarity with the struggle for Palestinian liberation.
As artists and organizers, we understand the deep history of art and culture in movements and we continue the tradition of resistance art as a necessary part of our liberation struggle.
The People’s Conference is a convening of organizations, collectives, movement leaders, community members, students and intellectuals, artists and cultural workers, and activists to reflect, exchange, and strengthen ourselves and our fight for a free Palestine. This moment calls on us to deepen our relationships, our strategies, our tactics, and our unity for the struggle ahead. Submitted artwork can reflect and build upon this critical juncture in our struggle through resistance arts and advancing popular consciousness.
We encourage artists to submit work that ponders the following questions:
What does resistance look like? What does liberation for Palestine look like?
What does sovereignty, self-determination, and liberation look like?
How can we build the struggle for liberation?
